Channeling the likes of Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Allan Poe, famed horror fiction author Stephen King's novel Revival lays human emotion bare.

In 1960s New England, a new minister has come to town. Charles Jacobs and his wife will make the church bigger and better. Everyone is drawn to the pair. The men and boys are all a little in love with Mrs. Jacobs, while the women and girls all feel the same about Reverend Jacobs. Jamie Morton, a local resident of the town, shares a deep bond with the Reverend, fascinated by simple scientific experiments.

Everything changes when Reverend Jacobs curses God, mocks religion, and is run out of town.

Some years later, Jamie is alone as well—a heroin addict without a home, drifting from bar to bar. He sees Jacobs one day, putting a show on a stage, using the methods from his childhood science experiments to create lightning effects. This sets into motion a pact between the men that can't be undone.

Spanning five decades, this novel is terrifying, disturbing, and a disturbing portrait of the human condition....

I thin k Stephen could have done without the ants in this one. it was a beautiful psychological and supernatural thriller, but I think he was reaching with his monster aspect on this one. all in all still a beautiful book from the greatest author of our time

The development of the characters and story was good, but the climax was ridiculous.
